In changing times as trends change, politicians decide on dual roles. That is politics and acting. Today, we record the story of a controversial politician taking to acting to play the role of King Dutugemunu while another upstart in the film scene plays the role of Sherlock Holmes. Two other new comers play the roles of Veerapuran Appu and Aladdin.

What a contrast in characters! This politician claims he is a direct descendent of King Dutugemunu. We believe, that was a pre-qualification for him to be chosen for this role in the new film to be released – ‘Surangana Lovin Avilla’ (Coming from the Fairyland). Though many made cracks in the past at this controversial politician, we are sure that he will show the country that he is a real Dutugamunu when he comes to play that historic character.

In this world, men of average height have come to fame. In Sri Lanka it was film legend Gamini Fonseka. In India, it is the heartthrob Shah Ruk Khan. In cricket, it is Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. In martial arts, one would recall Bruce Lee. There are many more.

Let’s await. Our amiable Public Affairs Minister, the pint sized Mervin Silva plays the role of King Dutugemunu. We are sure, it will be a box office record hit.
