The night was awesome with colourful glamour added. So many glittering stars in the tele–drama, theater and movie industry were present at the occasion of the Muhurath Festival which was held at the Mt Lavinia Hotel Regency Hall on July 25.

A highlight of the evening was a song from the ‘Suwanda Danuna Jeewithe’ which is another new production of the Alankulama Films. The film is yet to be shot under the direction of Dhammika Siriwardhane, who is also the producer and the script writer of this movie. “ Dhammika was once only a producer. He became a director only after gathering experience by being in the industry for sometime,” said lyrics writer, Kelum Srimal.

According to Srimal there were producers such as Sena Samarasinghe, Milton Jayawardhena along with some others who became excellent directors later on by directing movies such as Kasthuri Suwanda, Chanchala Rekha, and Wali Sulanga.
“I wish all success for Dhammika on his new movie and hope that he will be able to complete it successfully”, said Srimal.
Alankulama Films and Production has produced 20 tele-dramas up to now along with four movies.

The first tele-drama which the Alankulama Films produced was ‘Tharuka’ and the first movie that was produced was ‘Asai Man Piyambanna’ under the direction of Udayakaantha Warnasuriya.
“I have done three movies which were produced by Alankulama Films and I feel a great pleasure when thinking back about it,” said tele-drama and movie director, Udayakaantha Warnasuriya.

He further stated that Dhammika Siriwardhane was a great strength to the movie industry and the theme which he had chosen for the movie, ‘Suwanda Danuna Jeewithe’ was a very appropriate theme to work on.

“I am very happy to be a part of this movie, especially to work with the Alankulama Films under the guidance of Dhammika Siriwardhane,” said actress, Pooja Umashankar.

“My main aim was to get into the movie industry. So I started out with a teledrama which was named ‘Tharuka’.In all I produced 20 tele–dramas,” said producer and director, Dhammika Siriwardhane.
According to him the 20th teledrama which he produced was ‘Sidandana’ .He has also produced four movies such as ‘Asai Man Piyambanna’, ‘Rosa Kale’, ‘Gimhantha’ and ‘Paaya Enna Hiru Se’ upto now..

“This is going to be the fifth movie which I am going to produce and the first film which I am going to direct,” said Siriwardhane.
“Dhammika Siriwardhane has done a great deal of work for the existence of the movie industry and I say that this movie is going to be commercially a great success,” said lyrics writer, Sunil Ariyarathna.

Ariyarathna further expressed himself by saying that, a producer such as Siriwardhane who is beneficial for the industry should be well protected.

The main two characters of the movie are performed by Pooja Umashankar and Roshan Ranawana while the rest of the cast are Sanath Gunathilake, Morine Charuni, Ramani Siriwardhane, Himali Siriwardhane, Rex Koddippilie, Gayathri Dias, Pubudu Chathuranga, Raja Ganeshan, Sandali Walikanna, Janak Premalal along with the others.

The Art direction of ‘Suwanda Danuna Jeewithe’ is by Lal Haridranath, Camera direction by Jayanath Gunawardena and Make up by Indika Udara Lanka.

The Executive producer is Basuru Siriwardhane while the Production management is by Ashoka Ariyarathna.
The Lyrics are by Kelum Srimal, Nilar N. Casim and Nandana Wickramage.
The songs are created by Rohana Weerasinghe, Bhathiya and Santhush, Mahesh Denipitiya and Sachin Pieris.

The songs are sung by Uresha Ravihari, Shihan Mihiranga, Bhathiya Jayakody, Umara Singhawansa, Shiraz and Irosha.
The shooting of the movie is going to be starting on August 6, covering the areas such as Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Bandarawela, Mahiyangana, Monaragala, Colombo and Kadawatha.
The Script, Production and Direction of ‘Suwanda Danuna Jeewithe’ are by Dhammika Siriwardhena while the Assistant direction is by Donald Jayantha.
