State Music Awards on August 26 at Temple Trees

The State Musical Award Ceremony will be held on August 26 at Temple trees under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The event, which is the only local award ceremony for the music field, is organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs , State Music Committee, Sri Lanka Board of Arts and Ministry of Culture and the Arts.

The Organizing committee of the awards ceremony has planned to categorize simple music, folk music , child music, lyrics, vocal and music videos and 10 artists will be granted awards and financial assistance.

Artists who have done their own creations in 2009-2010 will be selected for above categories.

Creations in both Sinhala and Tamil media are acceptable and those who wish to apply for the competition must handover the creations before July 30, addressed to the director of the cultural affairs, Culture Department 8th floor, Sethsiripaya, Baththaramulla.
